Elizabeth Mahoney Obituary

Our dear Mom Elizabeth Irene (Roberts) Mahoney passed away Monday morning surrounded by her family.

She was a devoted and fun loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughter Danielle Mahoney - Brown, son in law Robert Brown and two grandchildren Ethan and Ava Brown; her son Shawn P. Mahoney and his partner Chris Sellas, her brother Neil Roberts and his wife Evelyn,  her sister in law Mary E. Mahoney, and many nieces, nephews and countless friends who enjoyed her good nature and humor throughout her life.

The fourth child of five, to parents John Robert’s and Naomi O’Leary Roberts of Windsor, NY, on the way to the hospital, Liz was born in the back seat of the car on a bridge in Johnson City,NY. Her middle name comes from a nice lady named Irene who happened to be walking on the bridge at the time and helped deliver baby Elizabeth. She is predeceased by her parents, and siblings Ruth Roberts, Sara Jane (Roberts) Storm and her husband Raymond Storm, brother Clifford Roberts and his wife Sally (Deiss) Roberts.

Liz graduated from Windsor High School in 1955, and Syracuse Business School in 1956. Her working life included time at Kroehler Furniture Co., the Grand Union and babysitting kids. She retired from SEFCU Credit Union in 2002 after 13 years as teller and loan officer. In retirement, Liz enjoyed days spent with her grandchildren and her family.

She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years Paul J. Mahoney in 1993, and two sons Michael in 1967, and her son Damion James Mahoney in 2023.
